The Vibe:
New POV unlocked (x5). It’s all trauma, training, and tears with a side of hot brooding fae. Meanwhile the king kicks it up a notch and our new characters have claws. My advice? Don't get attached to anyone.
What I liked:
Dorian & his new "friend" 😏
Aedion Ashryver the man that you are
What didn't work for me:
Manon..BORING
Celeana.. BORING
Rowen..hot..but BORING
Chaol..brooding..annoying..BORING
Minor spoilers for the previous TOG books ahead
Thoughts:
What in the actual fawkkkkk was the point of this story???
Manon? YAwn. It's not even that her story line is that boring tbh its just...her..I do not like her personality at all. Probably because she has none. She's all "we are the big bad mean witches and we do what we want HA!" its giving Disney villain. And I don't mean Maleficent, I mean like...Tess Tyler from Camp Rock or something.
She did not give "badass" she didn't give...anything. Combined with her less than interesting storyline I was pressing 3x speed through all her chapters.
Celeana/Aelin & Rowen....Ahh what is there to say really? I was disappointed. Especially because I am a real sucker for the "he's the trainer that lowkey hates her" trope. I think the entire Mistward timeline could have been sped up it felt really really really really really really repetitive...see how annoying that is?
They have no chemistry. Celeana is lowkey being a brat, Rowen is right about one thing afterall.
Chaol....oh my sweet baby Chaol what the actual fuck are you doing sweet boy? While his storyline feels kind of all over the place I do feel like it was true to his character because lowkey he was kinda spiraling and didn't really know wtf was going on or what to do. But I do feel it was also kinda dragged out unnecessarily.
Also his prejudice against magic folk? rude. But his fears are lowkey kinda valid.
DORIAN & SORCHA. Love love love. I love her sm. I love them. loveeeee. Even the ending tbh I loved it bc.....well it needed to happen. I did audibly gasp. Pearls were clutched. BUT we needed to feel that even though ughhh it sucks.
Aedion my beloved. I fell in love with him SO fast omg. His dedication to his queen is unmatched, his wit, his humor, his power? Ugh I love him. Wish we saw more of him bc his storyline was the most interesting by far.
A moment for Abraxos for being an icon.
Would I recommend it?
No. If it were possible to skip it and still read the series I would have. Unfortunately we all must suffer through it.
Live Reactions:
I have no live reactions for this one since I listened to it within like 48 hours lol
